SCHOOL OF CHURCH MUSIC (음악대학)
Bachelor of Church Music (132 units)
The Bachelor of Church Music is the undergraduate degree that provides education and training of music for ministry. The program can be taken in class or through guided independent studies by California University. The degree program requires four academic years of course work including General Education courses, Biblical and theological courses, and music courses to prepare graduates to use their musical talents to serve the Church and society. Bachelor of Church Music graduates will be qualified to serve as worship leaders and directors of music and will also be prepared for graduate study in music.
Degree Requirements

Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

A high-school diploma from an accredited school, or equivalent.

A cumulative high-school Grade Point Average of at least 2.5 or greater.

Successfully complete a minimum of 132 units of the following coursework with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale:

Successfully complete 44 units of general education courses.

Successfully complete 44 units of lower-division courses.

Successfully complete 44 units of upper-division courses, or 20 units of unrestricted electives and 24 units of concentration-required courses.

Successfully complete the degree requirements within the time limit.
Prerequisites for the Bachelor of Church Music (132 units)
A student’s academic transcripts will be evaluated for the completion of 132 units. If any prerequisites are lacking, appropriate courses must be taken. All courses are 4 units each.

Master of Church Music (60 units)
The Master of Church Music is the graduate degree that provides education and training in music for ministry. The program can be taken in class or through guided independent studies by California University. The curriculum provides students with advanced musical education and skills training in order to prepare graduates to use their musical talents to serve the Church and society. Master of Church Music graduates will be qualified to serve as worship leaders and directors of music and will also be prepared for doctoral study in music.
Degree Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from a state-approved or regionally or nationally accredited institution, or equivalent.

Successfully complete a minimum of 60 units with a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Maintain GPA at 2.0, with no grade less than a "C."

Satisfactorily complete all coursework over five quarters’ time (approximately twenty months’ chronological time).

Successfully complete the degree requirements within the time limit.

Doctor of Church Music(68 units)
The Doctor of Church Music is the advanced academic degree program that is designed to educate leaders for specialized expertise in music. The program prepares professional music leaders for helping services and glorifying God and also equips servant leaders for effective use of music in fellowship, education, worship, and the mission of the church. Students will develop the ability to meet the needs of the music leaders and directors of church. Recipients of the Doctor of Church Music degree will possess highly developed academic and performance skills in music. Candidates will choose their area of specialization and will do their doctoral project within that area. In the doctoral project, they may focus on music areas such as the following: musicology, vocal and instrumental music, art song, analytical tech, and various other areas.

Successfully complete a minimum of 60 units of coursework, determined by the student and the student’s doctoral committee, from the Doctor of Church Music course list and any other coursework prescribed by the student’s doctoral committee with a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Successfully complete the Integrative Review.

Successfully complete 60 units of concentrated course work.

Successfully complete 8 units of the Dissertation.

Successfully complete the degree requirements within the time limit.
